Microbes That Inhabit the Human Body

I recently read a very interesting article about the microbes that inhabit the human body. Apparently, this is a very acitive area of research at the present time. Our immune system depends on some bacteria in order to work properly -- some dieases are caused by a failure to do so. The microbes in different individuals can vary a great deal. The microbes one one hand of an person vary considerably from those one the other hand of the same individual! Some researchers view humans as a superorganism composed of our bodies and the microbes that inhabit it. They consider the genes of the microbes as extensions of our own genome.
